Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and Seequ Oy for using Houre. We've kept them as plain as we can.
Last updated October 15, 2026
The short version
- Your notes are yours. We store them encrypted and can't read them.
- Houre is free to use on your device. A subscription, bought through the App Store or Google Play, syncs your notes and lets you own shared projects.
- You can cancel anytime in your store settings. When a subscription ends, nothing is deleted; your changes just stop syncing.
- Use Houre lawfully and treat the people you share with respectfully.
- Finnish law applies, and your rights as a consumer always stay intact.
Who we are
Houre is provided by Seequ Oy ("we", "us").

How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.
Your account
- You need an account to use Houre, and you must be at least 16 years old.
- Use an email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Your notes are encrypted with a key made from your password, so if you forget it, we can't reset it or recover your notes for you. Use Export in the app's settings to keep your own copy.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings.
Plans and subscriptions
- Free: use Houre on your device without paying, and read and write in projects that subscribers invite you to.
- Subscription: sync your own notes across all your devices, own projects and share them with as many people as you like, and get a storage quota for notes and attachments, which also covers the projects you own. The app shows how much of it you've used.
You subscribe in the mobile app through the App Store or Google Play. The store shows the price in your currency, including any taxes, before you buy. Your subscription belongs to your Houre account, so it also unlocks Houre on desktop.
Subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel or manage your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. If a payment fails, your subscription stays active while the store retries the charge.
Apple or Google processes your payment under their own terms, and refund requests go to them. If we change the price, we'll tell you in advance, and the store will notify you before the new price applies so you can cancel first.
When a subscription ends or storage is full
Nothing is deleted. Your notes stay readable on all your devices, Houre keeps working on your device, and you can export everything. New changes stop syncing until you subscribe again, and projects you own become read-only for everyone in them.
The same applies when you reach your storage quota: everything stays readable, and syncing resumes once you free up space.
Your content
- You own your notes and everything else you put in Houre. You give us only the permission we need to store, copy, and transmit your encrypted data to provide the service.
- We can't see your content, so you're responsible for it, including having the right to share what you add to a project.
- Everything in a shared project can be read and edited by all of its members. If you leave a project or are removed from it, the notes you added stay in the project.
Acceptable use
Use Houre lawfully and respectfully. In particular, you may not use it to:
- store or share illegal content, or otherwise break the law
- harass, threaten, or spam other people, including through invitations
- access accounts, data, or systems that aren't yours
- disrupt the service or deliberately put an unreasonable load on it
To report abuse, email support@seequ.dev. Because we can't read content, we act on reports and on the limited information our servers hold.
Closing an account
- You can stop using Houre and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or when the law requires it. Unless the law or an urgent risk prevents it, we'll tell you first and give you time to export your notes.
- If we ever discontinue Houre, we'll give at least 60 days' notice so you can export your notes, and we'll release the complete source code of Houre, including the apps and the server, under an open source license.
The apps
We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the Houre apps while these terms apply. The apps include open source components under their own licenses, listed in the app's settings.
We improve Houre over time, and very old versions of the apps may stop syncing until you update them.
Availability and liability
We work hard to keep Houre available and your data safe, but we provide the service as it is, and interruptions can happen. Export your notes regularly to keep your own copy.
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Houre in the 12 months before the claim. These limits don't apply to harm we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, and nothing in these terms limits the rights mandatory consumer law gives you.
If you got Houre from the App Store
- These terms are between you and Seequ Oy, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Houre or its content.
- Your license covers Apple-branded devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store's Usage Rules, including access through Family Sharing.
- Seequ Oy, not Apple, is responsible for maintaining and supporting Houre, and Apple has no obligation to do so.
- If Houre fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Houre.
- Seequ Oy, not Apple, is responsible for handling any claims about Houre, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and claims that Houre infringes someone else's intellectual property.
- You confirm that you aren't in a country under a US government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you aren't on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Houre, such as those of your mobile data provider.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Houre and delete your account before then.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Finnish law. If you're a consumer, you also keep the mandatory protections of the law where you live.
If something goes wrong, email us first and we'll try to sort it out. Consumers in Finland can also take a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board. Disputes are otherwise resolved in the courts of Finland, unless the law gives you the right to go to court where you live.
